Tesla Motors Master Plan: Part II

In 2006 Elon Musk revealed The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan to the public on Tesla Motors website. It was company’s 10 year development strategy, which, in short, can be broken down to the following main points: create a sports car, earn money on it and use it to create an affordable car, future profits direct to creating an even more affordable model, while developing solutions for generating ‘’pure’’ electricity. As you can see by now Musk’s plan has succeeded. Now is the time to learn the second part of this secret plan. It has been recently posted on Tesla Motors website.

Its essence can be broken down into the following aims:

1. Create new stunning sun-roofs that harmonically integrate sun energy harvesting and storage systems
2. Expand the range of electric vehicles to cover all the main segments
3. Develop autopilot driving mode, which is many times safer than manual driving, by large-scale training and incorporating of current new technology into the new vehicles
4. Make it so that during a standstill, the car still brought income to the owner

Musk’s second part of the plan sheds more light on the process of association of Tesla Motors with SolarCity, the manufacturer of solar panels. This $2.8 billion deal was a real shock to the investors, although in short Musk, pumping his charisma to maximum, assured that the acquisition will be approved by a two-thirds majority of shareholders.

Founder and head of Tesla Motors also shared his vision of the role of the company in a booming economy. He suggests that ultimately full self-managed car will receive the approval of regulators.

Musk reiterated its forecast that future Tesla vehicles will be able to travel throughout the United States in auto-pilot mode. Thus, one will be be able to summon his/her vehicle to any location, set the new destination, and have a rest or read a book during the commute.

Soon, according to Musk’s plan, Tesla will establish it’s own vehicle fleet, that can be rented by simple push of the button in your mobile app. Apparently, this is how a car can make money for it’s owner. This should significantly reduce the costs associated with the purchase and operation of the car, as now, most cars are operated, at best, one tenth of the day.

In addition, Musk reveals the plans to create a separate fleet of vehicles for the cities, where demand exceeds supply. That is, the number of people willing to ride on Tesla exceeds the number of car owners from the company.

It should be noted that a slight delay of publication of the second part of a secret plan forTesla, which Musk so actively advertised before, is due to the recent launch of SpaceX and perhaps stormy discussion Tesla Autopilot function, provoked by the recent tragedy.
