Microsoft launches Cortana for IOS and Android
According to Engadget Microsoft is finally ready to launch Cortana for IOS and Android. Saying finally, I don’t mean it was a much desired release that everyone has been waiting for with trembling hands, but that it was in a long beta that has finished. Or almost finished, as trying to download it to my Android phone I still saw a beta tester message.
Nevertheless, all the Cortana fans can now download it to their phones. However, you will not hear “Hey Cortana” from an iPhone user, as this will be available only for Android users when in the app or on the home screen. You will not be able to “talk” to Cortana from another app like you do it with Google Now.
Cyanogen developers who didn’t really like deep Google integration in Android promise to have deep Cortana integration in Cyanogen OS and the One Plus users will be first to have it in the forthcoming OS update to 12.1.1 version. You still won’t have the Cortana’s “full package” like on Windows Phone, but will be able to voice activate Cortana from any app and use it to change some phone settings.
Telling the truth I can’t wait for the statistics to see how many users would download and use Cortana everyday on their iPhones and Android phones.
